Conceived as a budget price alternative to the Fireball, the Meteor Scow was launched in 1965. The hull was a simple hard chine, with the bow section sweeping up into a triangular bow transom, somewhat resembling that of the Mirror. With the Fireball attracting a huge following, the available market for the Meteor was always going to be limited. It is not know how many boats were made, but none are believed to have survived until today.

The Boat may have been sponsored by Helmsman Magazine, but this is no confirmed with any documentation.

The original builders were :

Planet Boats, Rochford, Essex.
