The Bullet was originally designed as a development of the highly successful Fireball. Designer Peter Milne envisaged a family of scow hulled dinghies that started with a trainer, the Bullet, progressing up to a monster 24ft long boat, the Calypso.

The Bullet was never the huge commercial commercial success for it's builders that it's big brother had been . Too heavy to allow a sparkling performance, the Bullet also suffered from the dominance in the youth training market of the 420.

Like the Fireball, the Bullet was intended for easy home construction using stitch and glue construction, though all GRP hulls were also made in a small number. A few examples survive, though few are seen afloat at sailing clubs as most are just used for 'fun' sailing.
